Wedding Weekend in Seattle

My stepmom met a lovely fella in her retirement community and they wed this past weekend in Seattle. We drove up early Saturday to enjoy the day, then spent most of Sunday with Sara’s family on Bainbridge Island. A ferry ride is always good for the soul, I think, and this was no exception. We drove back during The Game on Sunday, which, I want to believe, contributed to fewer vehicles on the interstate. A few photos below:

Bomb cyclone ocean

Sara and I went to the coast on Thursday when we had a rare day off without the kids. It was a fun day and full of wind, sand and a pounding surf caused by the “bomb cyclone” that was happening several hundred miles off shore and south towards California. After seeing the ocean we found a lovely place in Old Town Florence for some fish and chips and chowder. Images below:

Holiday, counseling, & translation

A few photos from the past few days: tree is acquired and up. We always wait until after Nora’s birthday, so on Sunday the 4th we headed out to a local tree farm and found this one. It’s big and “poofy,” as the word in the house would say. On campus the other day on a Facilities small truck I saw a sign with emojis – it was a small shout out to the UO Counseling Center. Ditch Market Saturday

Went to the “Ditch Market” on Saturday where many local artists were sharing their creations. I picked up a Handy Bag and some other items as well. Tom and Leslie used to run a company called Archival Clothing which made bags, totes and backpacks. Their stuff is / was super – made in the USA, canvas and waxed canvas materials. The bags I have of theirs are in constant use. Tom and Leslie now run a smaller operation called Handy Bags and, again, the quality is exceptional and I am grateful to use their totes.
