Been much too long . . .

It has been over a month since I updated my site, which is not what I intended to do when I revived it a few months ago. However, life has been, as can be seen in this post, full. Here we go: Sara won an award! I am fairly quiet in terms of my spouse, Sara, but this one, to me, deserves a shout-out. She was the recipient of the 2023 Nursing Excellence award in the “Innovator” category. She has a detailed way of thinking about things and noticed processes that could be improved in terms of the day-to-day work that she does as a nurse at the local hospital. These are being implemented across the hospitals in the system and she was nominated…

Campus light

I’ve been exploring a new camera lately – a Panasonic GM-1. It’s a small one, micro-four thirds type which lends to being easy to carry and use. So I have been trying to do so. Below is a photo from this morning’s sunrise across campus. Side bar: our campus has one tree from every continent which is pretty cool. Qualified: Our campus has one tree from every continent that has trees. 🙂 And yes, there has been a reprieve from the wildfire smoke for now.

Commitment devices, Frameworks and incremental success — via: Craig Mod –  Walking, Habits, Systems — Ridgeline issue 027: Long walks can be frameworks. Long walks contain rhythm and monotony. Using this framework, this monotony, I looked to amplify a few specific good habits, and nullify bad ones. For me, this is akin to my running.
