4 games in 2 days

Posted on September 16, 2026

Jonah and I went to four baseball games in two days last week . . .it was A LOT of baseball, a lot of driving, BUT we did have a great time. The itinerary was leave Eugene at 5:00 am and drive to Tacoma, Washington to see a day game involving the AAA level Tacoma Rainiers. The Rainiers are affiliated with the Seattle Mariners. Then when that day game concluded, we drove to Seattle, about 30 miles away, to catch a Mariners game. My brother joined us which was fantastic. We then ferried across the water and stayed with family on Bainbridge Island for a quick night of sleep (like 5 to 6 hours total) and then got up and did the exact reverse…

End-of-June

Posted on June 28, 2026

June winds down. Quick trip to Seattle to help my brother, a visit to one of my old employers, a lovely visit with my stepmom and her husband, World Cup fans, etc. On a quick trip to Seattle to help my brother with another eye surgery, I stopped at the Pike Place Market. There were many World Cup fans. My first trip was on a school field trip when I was 14 years old. Thanksgiving 2024 & then some . . .

We went up to Bainbridge Island again for Thanksgiving this year. Lisa, Jon and Phoebe were exceptional hosts, and we stayed at a nice Air Be and Be that was within walking distance to their place. Some of things included: a turkey parade, a turkey trot, a ferry ride & visit with my stepmom and brother, a nice run with a friend, a visit to see Phoebe’s horse and watch her work with Willow and some beautiful weather and mountains. Up at Bay Hay & Feed, they have an annual “Turkey Parade,” led by someone holding a tur-key. There was a good crowd and it was fun! Seattle city skyline from across the water. It was a beautiful clear day – so clear that…

Weekend in Seattle – Blue Angels Edition

Posted on August 7, 2024

Part of Jonah’s birthday this year was a trip up to Seattle to go to the Museum of Flight, along with attending a baseball game against the Mariners and the Phillies, two of our favorite teams. Jonah also suggested we go see the Everett Aquasox minor league team play against our hometown team, the Eugene Emeralds, too. Given that Everett is 30 minutes north of Seattle we decided to add that to the agenda and had a blast of a weekend. Bonus? It was the annual Seafair celebration, which included an air show featuring the Blue Angels. The Boeing Museum of Flight is located at Boeing Field which is where the Blue Angels take off and return to after their aerial acrobatics. The Blue…
