All the things . . .

Posted on February 13, 2025

Well, not really, but close! My site was corrupted for a bit but is now OK, spent a whole night in the ER with Sara (all is OK), ran some, got some snow and ice and freezing rain, testing out new papers for the large format printers at work, a few ants in the place, plus the worries and worries and worries of so much and many . . . . Ants. They erupted from a wall which is unusual for winter time, here. Normally they are a summer season event in our place and even though with the cold I sure wish it could be a bit of summer, these critters were not really welcome. This is a beautiful story of grief, written…

Running & Reading

Posted on January 30, 2025

It’s been cold lately. I’ve been running and reading lately, too. I go to Zenith Performance and Wellness once a month for physical therapy and see Jenn and she helps keep me running which I appreciate. This is John from one of my running groups. He’s 80 and keeps going and going and going. John hits around 40 miles per week and though he admits he is slower now, he’s still fun to run with and talk with, too. Zenith is downtown and handles a variety of types of PT for a range of folks. Classes, one-on-one support – you name it. Solidly a great group of therapists . . . A new book of poetry by one of my favorite writers, Joe Wilkins.

Swing the axe . . .

Some photos from an exhibit by Professor David Buckley Borden. Last year he did a set of images that were quite striking and this year the same has been done. David created some fictitious axe advertisements that I found quite beautiful.

2025

End the year and the start of a new one. A few photos and an updated Now page: Cinnamon rolls, pre-baked. They were excellent, as always! We hit the climbing gym for a day and wore ourselves out. It was good fun though! What could be more fun than dying your Mom’s hair? Sara was a good sport about it all . . . . And then this . . . . Became this . . . . a Concord jet from Legos A rainy New Year’s Day run out on Pre’s Trail. I found this amusing is all. Happy New Year and welcome 2025 . . . !

Solstice

Posted on December 23, 2024

One of my two running groups, the UO Noon Runners, has been doing a “Solstice Run” for years, and this Saturday was the event. We all meet at a predetermined time and run to the top of Mt. Pisgah to ring in the solstice, preferably at the exact moment of the Solstice. This year was slightly different because the main trail to the top of Pisgah was closed due to construction. So we met at a place called “Swing Hill,” where a swing allows one to see the expanse of the Willamette Valley. I ran early with John and Tim. We did a loop from the east parking lot to the summit and then met the group at the north lot for the run/hike…
