4 games in 2 days

Jonah and I went to four baseball games in two days last week . . .it was A LOT of baseball, a lot of driving, BUT we did have a great time. The itinerary was leave Eugene at 5:00 am and drive to Tacoma, Washington to see a day game involving the AAA level Tacoma Rainiers. The Rainiers are affiliated with the Seattle Mariners. Then when that day game concluded, we drove to Seattle, about 30 miles away, to catch a Mariners game. My brother joined us which was fantastic. We then ferried across the water and stayed with family on Bainbridge Island for a quick night of sleep (like 5 to 6 hours total) and then got up and did the exact reverse…

Pamelia Lake, 2026 edition

Another summer, another backpacking trip to Pamelia Lake with Nora. We discussed the fact that this was our 6th year of doing this, the first being 2019, with 2020 being a year away from going here. It’s the place my father worked as a fire-watch during the summers of 1947 and 1948 as well, before it became part of the Jefferson Wilderness Area. We had a lovely trip again with hints of fall arriving at night as we were camped at 4000 feet above sea level. The hike up to the top was tough as always, but worth it. It has been too long, again. There’s been life being lived, however. Update my “now” page. Photos below: 19 years old, just after surgery. The birthday was good and recovery is going well! A new book by Joe Wilkins which encompasses life in the Coast Range of Oregon, growing up in Montana, and thoughts surrounding his family. Lovely read, once again. Started this book and it is very good. 1888. George Eastman company put out the first point-and-shoot camera (of a sort). It was a box, and once you have taken all of the photos, you mail the whole box back to the company and they develop the film and then send you the photos. This new device radically began to change the ideas…

Iceland, London, Paris & others

Sara and Nora are on a trip now to Iceland, London and Paris. A few picture of this are here, along with some classics (standards?). Airport drop-off. The bags were sized to fit for flying Iceland Air as they are fairly strict about carry-on luggage sizes. Sara hasn’t been to Europe since the 90s and Nora has never been . . . a good time is being had! A rainbow street with Nora on the green in Reykjavik . . . A home run ball that we left the ballpark for (that is the left field fence) in Keizer, Oregon on our way home from Portland. Sara and I spent the day in Portland celebration our 20th anniversary! We went up to the Portland Japanese Gardens and then went to the Portland Fire WNBA game against the New York Liberty. A fun day was had by all (at least us!). Near one of the ponds at the gardens Koi The sun came out and went away and came out again which made for a beautiful day. Players warming up.
