I am behind in my updates here so I’ll be trying to catch up a bit, though not necessarily in chronological order. Summer has been busy and good and hot and we’re in the midst of an extinction burst of heat in the upper 90s for a week or so, too. Wildfire season is starting to kick in in these parts as well, which is always a challenge. Photos of events and people most recent are below! Florida – 2025

I recently spent 10 days in Florida as a graduation trip for Jonah’s high school graduation, doing the things that are important and of solid interest to Jonah. I managed to sneak in a few things for myself (wildlife, running, etc.), which were also good fun. It was a great trip overall. I missed topography. I enjoyed the wildlife, people, and food, and sometimes even the warmth. Home now and back to life in the northwest. This will be several posts as I go through the photos. A weekend in mid-June

It was a whirlwind of a weekend getting Nora to her cousin’s place and Jonah on a flight to Pennsylvania. First, though, was baseball and a walk through the Bellevue Botanical Gardens (a gem of a place where I must spend more time). We arrived early enough to watch batting practice through the fence. Upper deck seats in the outfield show the ballpark’s symmetry. The Mariners played the Cleveland Guardians and the game we went to ended up with a Mariner’s win in the bottom of the 9th with “walk-off” dramatics. June = graduation, running, & family

June has struck! We have a graduate and I’ve been running a good bit lately in a local trail series. This will come to an end near the end of the month as travel ensues for a bit. Jonah graduated from South Eugene High School last week! It was a good ceremony and now summer is here . . . My brother, Jonah’s Uncle Larry, came down from Seattle for the events. It was good to have him with us for these several days. I’ve been running in the Emerald City Trail Series again this year up on and near Mt. Pisgah. The races are on Thursday evenings, with distances as short as 3.7 miles and as long as 8 miles. Once again, they…

May has come and gone. I am woefully behind in this space as we have been super busy lately. Photos below and my Now page was recently updated as well. Jonah holding the UO Softball Super Regional Championship trophy. Some very good games were seen this year as the team is off to Oklahoma City for the College World Series! Sara and I went on a hike near Cottage Grove: Brice Creek and Trestle Creek Falls. It was a lovely green day to be out and about! Behind the falls. Brice Creek flowing along. On Monday I did my run around the Pioneer Cemetery, which is adjacent to campus.
