Lately – books are being read, and basketball season has begun. Plus the constant of my running which is always enjoyable.

This is / was part memoir and a reflection on the land of Montana and the midwest, becoming a father and working to raise children with an awareness of wonder. Also Chris’s descriptions of meals makes me want to go to his house for one.
This one I just started. Bernard DeVoto was someone that my father referenced regularly throughout my growing up. There is a lovely grove of trees that is named for him in Idaho, off of highway 12 and adjacent to the Clearwater River. Devoto Grove is a place of supreme peace and beauty. I am looking forward to reading more of this one.
And it is hoops season for Nora, her favorite sport. The organization that she plays in has a philosophy I can get behind: All Kids Play. And they do.
