In Eugene, we live at an elevation of about 450 feet above sea level. It’s not very high up. However, just down the trail from us is the Ridgeline Trail System, that can take you up to 2000 feet above sea level. It is one of my favorite places to run around here and access is not far from our house. I woke up today to snow on the ground and a running friend and I decided to go out anyways. We headed into the South Hills, up onto the Ridgeline Trail and to the top of Mt. Baldy where the photos below were taken. It was a lovely morning to be out (well, I like this kind of weather – I know it isn’t for everyone) . . . .

On the way up to the top of Mt. Baldy. Here we have come up about 500 feet from our starting point. The evergreen trees were green and white and weighted down with the wet snow from the morning.
Up at the top of Mt. Baldy looking southeast towards more of the south hills in the Eugene area. Technically we are out of the town proper, but the trail cuts north from this point and heads us back into town. We ran a total of 8 miles this morning, with a total elevation of 1260 feet. It really was a lovely morning to be out . . .
