February – the short month

I can’t really start this off without acknowledging the intensity with which so many of us live at the moment. Things are just not easy nor understandable, really. I bury my head in the sand, in my days, in the people I interact with and just do my best at what Vonnegut said in a baptism speech he once gave: Though I have said we have had little rain there was a day where we got some. This stream bubbled up on one of my runs along the Ridgeline Trail near home. It was a nice sight! From the same run – up and over the hills . . . . Update my Now Page as well . . .

Past times

It has been awhile since I have posted, so I’m going to try to put a few things up over the next few days. Here goes: Cleven (on the right) had a retirement party so we snapped this one of myself, Cleven and Tom. I met Tom through Cleven as Cleven got me connected to my one running group known as the “Noon Group.” The group used to run at noon, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The group still meets up on Saturdays now as most of the fine folks are retired. They lead the way and I look ahead with curiosity. Good luck to Cleven! Surgical support, trail running and a birthday

My brother had to have a detached retina put back in place and to be honest, I admire his grit through this one. I learned more about eyes than I knew and learned more about my brother than I knew too. This required some trips up to Seattle to see him through and I managed to get in a few trail runs in the Issaquah Alps trails system, a set of trails just east of Seattle in the Cascade Mountain foothills. Plus running with my regular “Noon Group,” along with the recent trail race, the Rainbow Ridge 20k. My brother, pre-surgery under a wonderful warm air-filled blanket. June = graduation, running, & family

June has struck! We have a graduate and I’ve been running a good bit lately in a local trail series. This will come to an end near the end of the month as travel ensues for a bit. Jonah graduated from South Eugene High School last week! It was a good ceremony and now summer is here . . . My brother, Jonah’s Uncle Larry, came down from Seattle for the events. It was good to have him with us for these several days. I’ve been running in the Emerald City Trail Series again this year up on and near Mt. Pisgah. The races are on Thursday evenings, with distances as short as 3.7 miles and as long as 8 miles. Once again, they…

Birthday & running

It’s been a while! Finally I am getting around to posting some new images of late. Yes, I had a birthday which corresponded with the Eugene Marathon. We had 14,000 runners doing all three races: 5k, half-marathon and marathon. Plus I went around the sun once more. This time I decided to run 61 kilometers over 6 days: 10k per day for five days and 11k on the sixth. Yes, I was tired by the end of the week.
