Weekend in Seattle – Blue Angels Edition

Posted on August 7, 2024

Part of Jonah’s birthday this year was a trip up to Seattle to go to the Museum of Flight, along with attending a baseball game against the Mariners and the Phillies, two of our favorite teams. Jonah also suggested we go see the Everett Aquasox minor league team play against our hometown team, the Eugene Emeralds, too. Given that Everett is 30 minutes north of Seattle we decided to add that to the agenda and had a blast of a weekend. Bonus? It was the annual Seafair celebration, which included an air show featuring the Blue Angels. The Boeing Museum of Flight is located at Boeing Field which is where the Blue Angels take off and return to after their aerial acrobatics. The Blue…

Late July (not the chips)

Posted on July 30, 2024

Back to work and doing stuff with family and friends . . . photos below . . This was a customer’s MacBook Pro with a swollen battery. Yikes. It was replaced. 🙂 A baseball game with tickets provided by Sara’s work. The photo was a slight surprise . . . Jonah’s robotics team was presenting their robot, “Marvin,” at the Eugene Asian Celebration at Alton Baker Park this past weekend. Here are few of the South Eugene Robotics Team (SERT) kids being silly on a break . . . . Clouds over the valley from my morning run to the top of Spencer Butte. It was a rare cool day in Eugene for July. We’ve had a couple of them now, but we are…

Butte to Butte, reading & lego

Posted on July 8, 2024

I ran in the Butte-To-Butte 10k run on the 4th of July. It was the 50th anniversary of the race here in Eugene and it was super fun. I also began and finished a new novel by one of my favorite writers, Joe Wilkins, called, The Entire Sky. Truly a story of the 90s, of Montana, of growing up and old and changing families. A very good read. Plus some labor to build a softball pitching area in the field behind my house for Nora & finally, revisiting building with legos! At the end of the race with a few runners from the Big Timber Running Club The Entire Sky. Beautiful, simply put. My friend Tom and I went to a reading by Joe…

Running & rockets

Posted on July 2, 2024

This is an overdue update, but it includes some running and a hike to the top of Spencer Butte in South Eugene to watch for the arc of a rocket launch. Firefly Aerospace is launching the rocket from just north of Los Angeles. The images are from last night’s hike, along with some from a bit earlier. I ran a couple of races in the Emerald City Trail Series this year and they often have photographers out on the course taking photos. The shirt is from the Big Timber Running Club that I belong to. Good race, good folks and I look forward to more next year! Hiking up to the top of Spencer Butte last evening. Launch was scheduled for 9:00 pm. It…

Mom’s Day

Posted on May 16, 2024

For Mother’s Day (Or is it Mothers’ Day?) Sara decided that we should all go to the local minor league baseball game – so we did! The Eugene Emeralds play as an affiliate for the San Francisco Giants at the “Low A” level. The players come and go quickly (if they are good) but the game is the game and the time at the ballpark is always fun. In addition, I looked in the fridge and snapped a photo of salsa. Team Sharp! Play Ball! Green salsa. Yum!
